Evolving the Interface

Rethinking a product that evolved
far beyond its initial interface.

What started as a relatively simple tool for real-time translation evolved over time into a much more advanced and professional tool for multilingual events, AI-powered voice translation, live captions, and complex event operations. As new functionality was added over the years, the interface became increasingly crowded and difficult to reason about.

As LiveVoice’s design partner from the beginning, we were involved not only in shaping the interface, but in the product thinking behind it. Our close collaboration with the LiveVoice team — including direct involvement in product discussions and decisions — was essential to making the work effective. It gave us the context to design beyond surfaces.

The challenge was turning a growing set of features, roles, and AI capabilities into a product experience that felt clear and intentional.

As LiveVoice evolved, the product outgrew the simplicity of its original interface. The introduction of AI-powered translation features, in particular, added significant complexity, yet the interface itself had never been fundamentally rethought to reflect it.

Our task was not to reduce complexity by removing capability, but to make that complexity feel structured, intentional, and usable. This meant shaping the experience around what each user group actually needs to see, decide, and control.
